This tool uses practical wording and sentence-pattern rules rather than an external AI service. It cannot verify facts, citations, or meaning. Keep source attribution and follow the rules that apply to your work.

1

Add your draft

Paste a sentence, paragraph, or short set of notes. Avoid information you are not authorized to share.

2

Compare versions

Choose a style and use the alternate button when you want a different phrasing of the same input.

3

Review before use

Read the result for accuracy, tone, and context. Paraphrasing does not replace sources or your own judgment.

What the rewriter does

It applies a fixed set of sentence and clause patterns to your draft, in your browser, without sending the text anywhere. It is a rule-based rewriter rather than a language model, so it changes structure and wording but not meaning — and it cannot check whether the result is accurate, only whether it reads differently.

Keep your original text somewhere else. The result appears in the output panel, and the source box is not overwritten, but it is easy to lose track of which is which once you start iterating.

The three styles

  • Balanced trades sentence length and openings without pushing hard in either direction. This is the sensible default.
  • More concise favours shorter sentences and drops qualifying phrases. Useful for tightening something you have already decided. Be careful with it on technical writing, where a qualifier such as "under these conditions" may be carrying real meaning.
  • More formal shifts towards longer constructions and more formal connectives. It suits academic and professional prose, and is usually the wrong choice for a blog post or a message to a colleague.

Why Try another version gives you something different

Each press of Try another version advances to the next pattern set, so repeated presses cycle through alternatives rather than repeating the same rewrite. If a version reads badly, press again instead of editing it word by word — the next one may suit the sentence better. The word count under the source box updates as you type, so you can see the length of what you are rewriting.

Paraphrasing and attribution

A paraphrase is a restatement in your own words, and it is not a substitute for a citation. If an idea, a figure or a piece of evidence came from somewhere, name that source whether or not you changed the wording. Rewriting a passage does not make it yours, and this tool cannot tell you whether the passage you pasted needed a reference in the first place.

Where your institution or publisher has a policy on rewriting, summarising or AI-assisted editing, that policy is what governs. Check it before submitting, and follow whatever it requires.

What it will not do

It does not verify facts, check citations, improve an argument, or adapt to a subject area. It cannot tell whether a change altered the meaning of what you wrote, which is why the result needs reading against the original before anyone else sees it.
