Scope

This policy explains how StudyKit handles information when you visit this site or use one of its browser-based tools. StudyKit does not require an account for the tools.

Text entered into tools

The tools are designed to perform calculations and file processing in your browser. Except for the Word to PDF converter described below, StudyKit does not intentionally receive or store the text, images, or captured frames you provide as part of a tool task. Browser extensions, security software, your browser, and hosting providers may process data as part of normal operation, so do not enter information you are not authorized to share.

Documents, images, and screenshots

The image redaction tool works entirely in your browser, and an image chosen for it is not intentionally uploaded to the server that hosts this site. The Word to PDF tool is different: it converts your document on the server that hosts this site using LibreOffice, because no web browser can reproduce a Word page layout. When you choose a document for that tool, the file is uploaded over your connection, converted, and the uploaded document is deleted from the server as soon as the conversion finishes, and the generated PDF as soon as the download is delivered, or within 45 minutes if it is never collected. The screenshot tool uses your browser’s permission prompt to capture a tab, window, or screen; captured frames remain in the current page until you clear them, reload, or close the tab. The image tools — compressing, resizing, changing aspect ratio, converting, blurring, picking a colour, adding a watermark, and removing a flat background — all work this way: an image you choose is read by your browser, and it is not sent to a StudyKit server. Removing a flat background works the same way and is worth a further word: your browser compares the picture against one background colour and writes a new PNG. There is no recognition model behind it, and no image analysis service is called, so nothing about the picture reaches a third party either. Image to Text (OCR) is the same, with one detail worth stating plainly. Recognising text needs a recognition engine of roughly 16 MB, and the first time somebody asks for text that engine is downloaded from this site’s own address rather than from an outside provider, so no third party is told which visitors use the tool. The image being read stays on your device, and the words are shown only in the open page. Screen Recorder is also local: a recording is assembled in the page and offered to you as a download, and it is never stored here. If you turn on its optional microphone, any audio is captured and discarded in the same way. Video Auto Clip is local in the same way: a video you choose is read by your browser, measured frame by frame, and written back out as new MP4 files, and it is never sent to a StudyKit server. The clips are assembled in the page and offered to you as a download, then discarded when you clear them, reload, or close the tab. The engine that reads and writes the video is about 680 KB and is downloaded from this site’s own address on first use, so no outside provider learns that you used the tool. Re-encoding uses your browser’s own video encoder, and the sound from each clip is carried across with the picture rather than being sent anywhere. Because that encoder is only available over a secure connection, this tool needs the site to be served on HTTPS and says so plainly when it is not. Your browser may provide the requested image or permission result to the operating system, and normal hosting or browser services may process technical request data.

Messages and contact information

If you email StudyKit or report a problem, the information you choose to provide is used to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain a record of the correspondence. Please do not send passwords, financial details, or unnecessary sensitive information.

Hosting and technical logs

WordPress, the hosting provider, and other infrastructure providers may record request data such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user agent, referrer information, and security signals. These records may be used for delivery, diagnostics, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. Their retention period is controlled by the relevant provider.

Advertising, cookies and local storage

StudyKit is funded by advertising. When you use this site, Google and its partners may place and read cookies in your browser, or use similar technologies such as web beacons, to collect information as a result of serving ads on this and other sites.

• Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site. Those networks are identified on the ads themselves, and each publishes its own policy and opt-out page at aboutads.info.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time through Google Ads Settings, or for a range of vendors at www.aboutads.info. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookie use for personalised advertising on the vendor’s own site, where that vendor offers it.
• You can refuse or delete advertising cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block third-party cookies for a site entirely. Doing so does not stop ads from appearing, but it does stop them being personalised using this and your other visits.

Google is the only advertising vendor currently used. If another network, an analytics service, or any other component that places cookies is added later, this policy will be updated to name it and to link to its own policy before it is enabled. Where a consent notice is required, no advertising is served until that consent has been given.

WordPress, the theme, and plugins on this site may also set cookies or use browser storage for administration, preferences, security, search, and measurement. Choosing Auto, Light, or Dark for the colour scheme stores your choice in local storage on your own device; it is not sent to us and is not used to select advertising.

Third-party services

The font used on this site is served from our own server rather than from a third-party font service, so no third party receives your IP address simply because you loaded a page. If advertising is enabled, Google is the only advertising vendor, and its scripts receive your IP address, browser user agent and advertising cookies as described above. External links, if present, are governed by the linked site's own policy.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Apart from the temporary files described above, which are deleted within the same request, we do not retain tool text intentionally. Contact messages and provider logs may be retained for as long as reasonably needed for support, security, and legal obligations.

Your choices

You can clear browser cookies and local storage using your browser settings. You can also contact us to ask about information you have sent by email or to request a copy or deletion where applicable.
