Start a capture
Select Start capture, then choose the tab, window, or screen you want in your browser’s permission prompt. Nothing is captured silently.

Browser requirement: screen capture needs a supported browser and a secure HTTPS or localhost address. The browser may ask which tab, window, or screen to share. Stop the capture before you close the tab; protected content and other applications may not be available to the browser.
How to capture a screenshot
1. Grant permission
Choose the source you want to share in the browser prompt. You can stop sharing at any time.
2. Capture a frame
Arrange the view you need, then select Capture frame to create a PNG preview.
3. Download and review
Download the PNG and check it for sensitive information before sharing or publishing it.
Choosing what to share
When you select Start capture, the browser puts up its own prompt listing the tabs, windows and screens you could share. Nothing is captured before you choose, and the choice is yours to make — the page cannot see anything on its own.
Prefer sharing a single tab over your whole screen whenever you can. A screen share sweeps in everything behind the window: your messages, your mail, anything you switch to, and whatever appears in a notification. A tab share confines the capture to the page you actually want.
Taking the frame
- Arrange the view first — scroll to the part you need, close anything you would rather not photograph, and open the menu you want to show. Capture takes what is on screen at that moment, so set the scene before you press the button.
- Select Capture frame. The image appears in the preview on this page.
- Read the preview before you download it. This is the moment to notice a notification, a tab title, a bookmark, an address bar, or a name in the margin.
- Select Download PNG to save it to your device.
Why some screenshots come out blank
Browsers deliberately block capture of protected content. Streaming video, some DRM-protected media, and parts of banking and password pages are rendered as a black or empty frame. This is a protection against exactly the kind of capture this tool performs, and no web page can lift it. If the frame is blank, the content is protected; take a different approach rather than looking for a way around it.
Practical notes
- Stop the capture before you close this tab. Closing the page ends the browser’s permission and the capture with it.
- You can stop sharing at any time, either with Stop capture here or with the browser’s own sharing control.
- A screenshot captures a single frame, so it is the wrong tool for a whole article. Printing to PDF captures a full page instead.
- If you want the text out of an image rather than the image itself, use the Image to Text (OCR) tool, which is built for that.
Before you share a capture
Look at the whole frame, including the edges. Check for anything you would not want in a public post: a tab title, a URL with an identifier in it, a bookmark, a name, a date, or a second person’s face. You are the only one who can judge that, which is why the preview comes before the download button.
